On May 9, the Chinese Embassy in Singapore hosted the "Tea for Harmony · Henan Charm Gathering" afternoon tea session. Yang Qing, wife of the Chinese Ambassador to Singapore, along with female ambassadors or wives of ambassadors from some countries in Singapore and about 60 women from various sectors in Singapore, attended the event.
In her speech, Yang Qing stated that this tea session aims to commemorate the "International Tea Day". In traditional Chinese culture, "tea" is closely linked to "harmony". "Harmony" means openness, inclusiveness and advocating neutralization. "Tea for Harmony" contains Oriental wisdom and embodies the true essence of civilization that "each beauty is appreciated for its own beauty". The development of the tea industry is closely related to women and plays an active role in poverty alleviation and women's empowerment. This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Fourth World Conference on Women and the adoption of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action. China will hold the Global Women's Summit again in Beijing to discuss the development of the global women's cause with all parties.
The guests present experienced seven cups of tea, watched tea art and Yu Opera performances, and praised the beauty of Chinese excellent traditional culture such as Chinese tea culture. They expressed their expectation that the Global Women's Summit will inject new momentum into the development of the women's cause. Ambassador Cao Zhongming attended the exchange activities with the guests.
