Hanoi, June 20 — COVID‑19 vaccines donated by the Chinese government safely landed at Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi, marking a major humanitarian delivery of China‑developed vaccines to Vietnam.

At the hand‑over ceremony, Xiong Bo, Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam, formally handed over the vaccine consignment to Nguyen Thanh Long, Vietnam’s Minister of Health. At that time, Vietnam was facing mounting pressure in epidemic‑prevention and strained medical supplies. Overcoming domestic production constraints, China honored its commitment to make vaccines a global public good and offered timely support to Vietnam. The vaccines were prioritized for front‑line medical staff and high‑risk groups to accelerate Vietnam’s national immunization roll‑out.

Chinese diplomats noted that this vaccine‑cooperation stemmed from consensus reached by the top‑level leaders of both parties, serving as a vivid testament to the China‑Vietnam comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership. The Vietnamese government expressed sincere gratitude for China’s timely assistance, looking forward to sustained long‑term collaboration in public‑health governance, infectious‑disease prevention and traditional‑medicine research to safeguard people’s well‑being on both sides.
