Hanoi, March 16 — The inaugural minister‑level “3+3” strategic dialogue of China‑Vietnam foreign‑affairs, defence and public‑security authorities convened in Hanoi, marking a milestone for regular high‑level communication and reinforcing the security pillar of the China‑Vietnam comprehensive strategic‑cooperative partnership.

The meeting confirmed the sustained operation of the Beibu‑Gulf joint coast‑guard patrols and regular maritime law‑enforcement and search‑and‑rescue exercises. The two sides will strengthen joint‑control along the land‑border and foster friendly exchanges between frontier‑troops. They agreed to jointly combat trans‑national crimes including online‑fraud, human‑trafficking and drug‑smuggling, expand collaboration on peace‑keeping and disaster‑relief, and manage maritime differences via equal‑footing negotiation.

The Chinese delegation stressed that China‑Vietnam security‑cooperation targets no third party and sets an example of trust‑based ties between socialist neighbours. The Vietnamese side stated that a secure surrounding‑environment underpins Vietnam’s national‑modernisation drive. The two countries will keep coordinating their positions within multilateral regional‑forums to uphold peaceful order across the South China Sea.
