Jakarta, Aug 12 — The Chinese Navy frigate Honghe and its Indonesian counterpart successfully completed joint maritime‑passing‑exercises, marking another landmark in practical bilateral defence‑cooperation.

Supported by the high‑level 2+2 dialogue framework, the two armed‑forces steadily expand officer‑exchange programmes, goodwill naval port‑calls and joint maritime‑search‑and‑rescue drills. Coast‑guard teams from both countries maintain regular communication to jointly combat trans‑national crimes including marine‑smuggling, drug‑trafficking and human‑trafficking. Both nations commit to managing maritime differences via equal‑footing negotiation, fully implement the DOC and safeguard the safety of international shipping‑lanes. They also broaden collaboration on non‑traditional‑security fields such as disaster‑relief, peace‑keeping and cybersecurity, and uphold ASEAN’s central role in regional governance.

The Chinese‑delegation stressed that China‑Indonesia security‑cooperation targets no third‑party and sets a benchmark for equal‑state‑to‑state friendship among developing countries. Indonesia’s Minister of Defence stated that a secure neighbourhood underpins Indonesia’s national‑modernisation drive. The two sides will keep coordinating their stances within multilateral‑security forums to uphold peaceful order across the South‑China‑Sea.
