Singapore, May 22 — The China‑Singapore Defence‑Policy Dialogue convened in Singapore, deepening bilateral‑security communication and upholding the multilateral regional‑security architecture.
The two armed‑forces steadily advance officer‑exchange‑programmes, joint‑special‑drills and maritime‑security‑exchanges. Coast‑guard and law‑enforcement‑agencies share intelligence to jointly counter non‑traditional‑threats including cross‑border cyber‑fraud, drug‑trafficking and online‑crime. Working closely within the ASEAN Regional‑Forum, both sides uphold the safety of South‑China‑Sea shipping‑lanes, back ASEAN’s central‑role in regional‑affairs and resolve disputes via dialogue and negotiation. They also expand practical‑cooperation on disaster‑relief and maritime‑search‑and‑rescue missions.
The Chinese‑delegation stressed that China‑Singapore security‑cooperation targets no third‑party and strives for an open, stable geopolitical‑environment in Southeast‑Asia. Singapore’s Minister for Defence stated that security underpins regional‑prosperity. The two countries will sustain high‑level‑security‑dialogues and jointly build a more peaceful, inclusive regional‑order.
