With more than seventy years of dedicated development, the School of Foreign Languages of Qilu Normal University has evolved from a single-focus unit centered on English teacher training and general education into a well-integrated academic structure encompassing four undergraduate programs: English (Teacher Education), Translation, Business English, and Cross-Border E-commerce. These programs span two major disciplinary fields—Literature and Management—and have gradually formed two prominent and distinctive discipline development directions: English Language Education and Language, Culture, and International Communication.

The School is supported by a strong and well-structured faculty team. It currently has 76 faculty and staff members, including 66 full-time faculty, among whom are 4 professors, 23 associate professors, and 16 faculty members holding doctoral degrees. Over the past decade, faculty members have secured 1 project funded by the National Social Science Fund of China, 36 provincial- and ministerial-level projects, and 54 departmental- and bureau-level projects. Faculty have published more than 140 academic papers in domestic and international journals, including over 20 papers indexed in leading databases such as CSSCI and SSCI. In addition, the School has published 50 monographs, translations, and textbooks, including 10 titles released by national first- and second-tier academic publishers. Among these achievements, two textbooks were selected for the National “13th Five-Year Plan” Textbook Program of the Ministry of Finance, one course was recognized as both a National First-Class Undergraduate Course and a Provincial First-Class Undergraduate Course, and one course was designated as a Provincial Model Course for Curriculum-Based Ideological and Civic Education in Shandong Province.

The School’s faculty have received more than 30 major awards, including the Shandong Provincial Outstanding Achievement Award in Social Sciences, the Outstanding Research Achievement Award of Higher Education Institutions in Shandong Province, and the Shandong Provincial Higher Education Teaching Achievement Award. Ten faculty members, on fifteen occasions, have been honored with titles such as Provincial Distinguished Teaching Master of Shandong, as well as university-level honors including Most Inspiring Teacher, Outstanding Educator, Model of Professional Ethics, Excellent Teacher, and Longshan Scholar. Faculty members have won 49 awards in national, provincial, and university-level teaching competitions, including 6 first- and second-prize awards at the national level and 18 first- and second-prize awards at the provincial level.

In student development, faculty guidance has led 19 students to win first prizes in the Shandong Provincial Vocational Skills Competition, ranking the School among the top two comparable institutions in the province. Students have also earned 120 national- and provincial-level awards in a wide range of language proficiency competitions, including English speaking, reading, writing, interpreting, translation, and comprehensive business English skills. In addition, students have undertaken 12 undergraduate research projects and have published 12 academic papers in public academic outlets.
