To deepen students’ understanding of educational practice and cultivate professional ethics and educational passion, on May 14, the School of Foreign Languages organized an education practicum for 185 students majoring in English Education—including Class 2023 (Normal Track) and Class 2024 (Junior College-to-Undergraduate Transfer)—hosted by Zhangqiu Middle School. The trip was led by five faculty members, including Niu Luo (Secretary of the Youth League Branch) and Zhang Liwen (Director of the Teaching & Research Section). With strong support and meticulous coordination from Principal Li Jinsong and other faculty members at Zhangqiu Middle School, the program featured experiential class meetings, classroom observations, and expert lectures. Students participated in a Grade-11 themed class meeting, gaining insight into student-centered pedagogy and autonomous class management. They observed Ms. Zhang Jin’s English continuation writing lesson, appreciating how thoughtful instructional design fosters core competencies. They also attended a keynote lecture by Provincial Model Teacher Li Caimin, titled Becoming an English Educator Who Guides Students’ Cognitive Development, which powerfully integrated educational passion and cognitive guidance. This practicum strengthened students’ ability to bridge theory and practice, enhanced their educational observation, instructional execution, and innovation capacities, and actively supported their transformation—from knowledge transmitters to holistic student development mentors—laying a solid foundation for upcoming teaching internships and long-term growth as outstanding English educators.
