Program Description
Responding to the national education strategies and socio-economic advancement, this program serves the needs of basic education reform in Shandong Province and the development of a teacher workforce for the new era. It aims to cultivate well-rounded graduates who take moral education as their fundamental mission, possess a genuine passion for teaching and a strong sense of professional ethics, and demonstrate a sound foundation in the humanities and scientific inquiry. Graduates will acquire a solid command of English, effective pedagogical skills, the ability to foster student development, and strong capabilities in English literary appreciation. They will also develop an international outlook and cross-cultural competence, preparing them for teaching, research, and educational management roles in secondary schools. With a spirit of innovation, a commitment to professional growth, and the capacity for self-directed development, graduates are expected to become regional leading teachers.

Career Prospects
Graduates are well-prepared to teach English or engage in English training and related educational roles in full-time primary and secondary schools, private schools, training institutions, and education administration departments at the municipal and county levels.

Program Strengths
The program received accreditation through the Ministry of Education’s teacher education program evaluation in 2022. Building on the university’s long-standing strengths in teacher education, and through collaboration with local secondary schools, the program enhances the comprehensive skills of teacher education students via activities such as educational observation, teaching practicum, teaching research, and academic competitions. This has resulted in distinctive program features and strengths, characterized by “the integration of online and offline instruction” and “the seamless connection between pre-service cultivation and in-service training.”
The program also benefits from a strong team dedicated to the training of primary and secondary school teachers, which includes 11 provincial-level training experts. The team has undertaken eight major projects, including national and provincial key teacher training programs, comprehensive reform projects under the National Training Program, young teacher enhancement initiatives, Internet Plus Teacher Professional Development projects, and provincial collaborative innovation projects in teacher education. The training outcomes and quality have been widely recognized, earning a provincial teaching achievement award in basic education.
