To guide young students in setting lofty aspirations, fostering a strong sense of responsibility to the nation, and encouraging them to devote themselves to grassroots development in western China, the School of Foreign Languages held a special information session on the Western China Volunteer Program on April 23 in Classroom A111 of the Second Teaching Building. The session featured Counselor Gao Kepan from the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering as the keynote speaker and was chaired by Gao Chenxuan, counselor of the School of Foreign Languages.

During the session, Gao Kepan provided a detailed introduction to the background of the Western China Volunteer Program, eligibility requirements, types of positions, and application procedures. Drawing on personal experience and representative cases, he helped students gain a clear understanding of the program’s specific arrangements. In response to common concerns such as policy guarantees, living allowances, assessment mechanisms, and future career development, he offered systematic explanations and detailed clarifications. The presentation was comprehensive and well-structured, effectively addressing students’ questions and dispelling their doubts, thereby enabling them to develop a clearer and more concrete understanding of grassroots service and participation in western development.

This information session further strengthened students’ sense of responsibility and commitment, fully inspiring their enthusiasm for serving the western regions and contributing at the grassroots level. Participants gained a more comprehensive and in-depth understanding of the Western China Volunteer Program and developed a clearer sense of direction regarding grassroots employment and voluntary service. Going forward, the School of Foreign Languages will continue to advance publicity and guidance related to the program, optimize support services, and build communication platforms, encouraging more aspiring young people to go to western China and take root at the grassroots level. In doing so, they will fulfill their original aspirations and missions where the country needs them most, and contribute youthful energy to serving the nation and the people.
