To further strengthen the foundation of classroom teaching, create high-quality model classes, and leverage their guiding and influential role to support teachers' professional growth, the English Education Research Department recently organized a special lesson-refinement and discussion activity for all its teachers. The focus was on fine-tuning school-level model classes and refining them in detail, using collective research strength to optimize classroom design and improve the educational quality of the courses.

This model class was led by Teacher Li Yan from the department, covering the course 'Advanced Reading and Writing in Contemporary China.' The course closely centered on the core units of youth missions, based on the core competencies of the English subject and the goals of ideological education in the curriculum, aiming to create a high-quality class that is both informative, professional, and thought-provoking. During the lesson-refinement process, Teacher Li presented the complete teaching design and lecture process for the entire class, showcasing carefully polished content with innovative class structure and clear teaching logic.

The class revolves around the youth forum scenario tasks as the main thread, gradually progressing and deepening the teaching activities step by step. Using thematic scenarios, the course guides students to explore the responsibilities of youth in the new era and clearly outlines the close connection between the youth dream and the Chinese dream. At the same time, focusing on the key points of the English reading and writing course, it precisely explains two practical intercultural communication skills: global comparisons and detailed descriptions, deeply integrating language learning, reading and writing skills improvement, and intercultural thinking development. At the end of the class, by interpreting the exemplary deeds of youth role models in the new era, the course vividly demonstrates the profound meaning of 'when youth thrive, the nation thrives,' achieving an organic unification of language teaching and ideological education, creating an immersive and effective ideological English class.

Following the demonstration lesson, all faculty members of the Teaching and Research Office held a centralized lesson evaluation seminar. In line with the school’s evaluation criteria for demonstration classes, teachers delivered thorough comments covering multiple dimensions, including thematic conception, situational design, teaching procedure planning, key and difficult points tackling, intercultural teaching integration, ideological and political element infiltration, as well as classroom rhythm management.

All teachers fully acknowledged the highlights of the lesson: a distinct theme, innovative design and clear educational orientation. They also put forward refined, targeted suggestions for improvement regarding in-class interaction, knowledge output pacing and the implementation of learning tasks. Drawing on years of teaching experience, senior instructors offered detailed guidance to Ms. Li Yan on refining courseware, polishing teaching language and perfecting classroom task design. They refined every classroom detail from all angles and collaborated collectively to optimize the overall framework of the demonstration lesson.

Ms. Li Yan listened carefully to all feedback, exchanged ideas proactively, sorted out directions for revision, and revised her teaching plan efficiently. The entire seminar featured a vibrant, pragmatic and productive atmosphere, truly facilitating collaborative reflection and research to boost teaching quality and efficiency.

A high-quality lesson demands relentless refinement; teaching on the three-foot podium requires persistent dedication. This seminar for polishing demonstration lessons not only helped the instructor polish classroom details and refine high-quality curriculum design, further enhancing her capacity to integrate classroom instruction with curriculum-based ideological and political education, but also built an excellent platform for all teachers in the office to exchange ideas and learn from one another. It effectively prompted faculty to update teaching philosophies and optimize instructional approaches.

Moving forward, the English Education Teaching and Research Office will keep its focus on classroom teaching as the core work. It will regularly organize demonstration lesson polishing, class observation and evaluation, as well as collective teaching research activities. The office will deepen the development of curriculum-based ideological and political education, strengthen faculty training, and leverage refined teaching research to elevate classroom quality and efficiency, steadily boosting the overall teaching standard of the teaching and research office.
