School of Foreign Languages’ English Teaching and Research Office Holds Thematic Teaching Research Activity on Curriculum-based Ideological and Political Education

To further advance the teaching reform of foreign language curriculum-based ideological and political education, and improve teachers’ capabilities in the design and practical application of ideological and political teaching, the English Teaching and Research Office of the School of Foreign Languages, Qilu Normal University, launched a teaching research activity themed Teaching Design and Practice of Ideological and Political Education in Classroom B233, Teaching Building No.2 on the afternoon of June 11. All teachers of the teaching and research office attended the activity.

The activity was delivered by Associate Professor Chen Le, who has achieved outstanding achievements in curriculum ideological and political teaching competitions. Previously, relying on excellent teaching design and effective educational practice, Chen Le won the National Special Prize in the track of Understanding Contemporary China in the 2024 National Foreign Language Curriculum Ideological and Political Teaching Case Competition for Universities. This honor fully demonstrates the solid achievements of curriculum-based ideological and political education construction in our school.

In the sharing session, taking the course Understanding Contemporary China: English Public Speaking as an example and combining her competition experience and daily teaching practice, Associate Professor Chen Le systematically shared practical approaches to curriculum ideological and political construction from four dimensions: teaching objective setting, overall design ideas, practical teaching cases and teaching effect reflection. Her sharing covered both macroscopic educational concepts and microscopic teaching details. She clarified the educational orientation of curriculum ideological and political education, and elaborated practical teaching arrangements including class hour allocation, application of online teaching platforms and classroom task design. The sharing was highly targeted and closely connected with frontline teaching practice.

The whole sharing session was thorough, easy to understand and rich in content, helping all teachers clarify the design ideas and implementation paths of integrating ideological and political education into foreign language courses. During the interactive communication session, teachers raised questions actively and conducted in-depth discussions. They exchanged experience on key and difficult points of embedding ideological and political elements into classroom teaching, creating a strong academic and research atmosphere on site.

This pragmatic and efficient teaching research activity brought fruitful results to all participants. All attending teachers stated that the sharing provided replicable and implementable teaching methods for curriculum ideological and political education, which greatly broadened their teaching horizons. In the next stage, all teachers in the teaching and research office will draw on excellent experience, further deepen the construction of curriculum-based ideological and political education, promote the in-depth integration of foreign language teaching and ideological and political education, and continuously optimize teaching quality. The office will faithfully fulfill the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education, and steadily improve the quality of talent cultivation.
