To expand students' career development paths, enhance their awareness of the rule of law and campus safety prevention, and build an interdisciplinary integration platform for foreign language majors and the legal field, the School of Foreign Languages held a legal popularization themed lecture activity in Classroom A113 of the Second Teaching Building on May 28. Zou Deping, Vice Dean of the School of Foreign Languages, He Jun, Chen Wentao, Yang Xiaobo, lawyers from Tahota Law Firm, and some students of the 2025 grade participated in this event. At 4:30 p.m. on the same day, Zou Deping, together with lawyers He Jun, Chen Wentao and Yang Xiaobo from Tahota Law Firm, carried out an offline publicity and consultation activity, patiently answering questions from the students present about career planning, professional development, common legal knowledge and other related doubts. At the beginning of the activity, Zou Deping delivered a speech for this event. She pointed out the current situation that the demand for compound foreign language talents in the foreign-related rule of law field continues to grow, emphasized the importance of the in-depth integration of foreign language competence and professional legal literacy, and encouraged students to strive to grow into high-quality talents who understand the law, master foreign languages and are familiar with relevant rules. Subsequently, combined with the general environment of foreign-related rule of law development, He Jun interpreted the career development directions for English majors, and introduced in detail the current situation of foreign-related rule of law construction as well as the competitive advantages and development paths for English majors to enter fields such as foreign-related lawyers and cross-border legal affairs. Finally, Chen Wentao gave a lecture on campus safety risk prevention, interpreted relevant legal provisions in combination with typical scenarios such as telecom fraud and campus loans, analyzed the risk incentives, explained the rights protection channels after encountering risks, and reminded students to enhance their awareness of prevention and establish the thinking of the rule of law. This legal popularization themed lecture activity not only relied on the advantages of university-institute linkage to help students clarify the development prospects of foreign language majors in the foreign-related rule of law field and broaden their career paths, but also rooted the concept of the rule of law on campus, effectively improving the legal literacy and safety prevention capabilities of all students. In the next step, the School of Foreign Languages will continue to deepen the collaborative education mode between the university and the institute, focus on the cultivation of compound foreign language talents, consolidate the foundation of rule of law education, help students grow in an all-round way with diverse education measures, and make unremitting efforts to cultivate talents in the new era who have both foreign language competence and rule of law literacy.
